Kelly Weinert Mego // Attorney
Meetings scheduled virtually and in person by appointment only
Hello! I’m Kelly Weinert Mego, your neighborhood Personal Family Lawyer®.
My goal is to be your trusted advisor who helps you make the very best personal, financial, and legal decisions for your family throughout your lifetime. I want to help you not just now, but also when you can’t be there so that I can help guide your loved ones through a difficult process.
In short, my sole focus is to help families avoid collapse after the death or disability of a loved one.
I want you to know you’ve made a big step toward peace of mind simply by reading this.
I have many resources for you so you can ensure your family and loved ones stay out of court and out of conflict, if and when something happens to you. I'd love to share some of these resources with you going forward.
My law practice focuses on helping young families, blended families and single parents. I’m passionate about educating my clients and getting the best possible estate planning for their family situation, whatever that may be. Building a relationship is the foundation to getting comfortable enough to talk about WHAT you really want, and WHO you really want to handle everything you’ve worked so hard for. Knowing you made informed decisions, and that you have your legal and financial affairs, and your spiritual and legacy wishes in order, protects your family and helps you sleep better at night.
I was admitted to the bar of the State of Texas in 1997. After taking a gap year to backpack across Europe, I practiced in state government for 8 years handling rulemaking, litigation and environmental cases. In 2004, I relocated to East Texas and became part of a beautiful, blended family and opened a practice with my former partner handling family law, bankruptcy, estate and probate matters, environmental cases, and oil and gas cases. It was a mix of my experience in training title abstractors about intestacy law, my litigation experience, and having to probate my own parents’ outdated estate plan that led me to open a new firm that focuses on estate planning and the importance of building relationships with my clients.
I was born in Nebraska and moved to Spring, Texas with my family when I was 8 years old. I attended Texas A&M University in College Station (whoop!) and earned a B.S. in Forestry, and then went on to receive a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law Houston. During law school, I was the Editor of the school’s Environmental Law Journal and worked as a law clerk in a boutique firm in downtown Houston.
As your Personal Family Lawyer® I’d love to start protecting the people you love and everything else you care about today. I look forward to meeting you!
